  Steady 70 sees Karandeep Kochhar through in final round of Gujarat Open Golf Championship 2022 presented by Gujarat Tourism

  Karandeep Kochhar carrying forward his rich vein of form from last season, lifted the title on a dramatic final day at the Gujarat Open Golf Championship 2022 presented by Gujarat Tourism held at the Kalhaar Blues & Greens Golf Club in Ahmedabad.

  Chandigarh-based Karandeep (64-75-69-70), who was overnight tied fourth and two off the lead, came from behind with a steady two-under 70 on day four to sign off with a 10-under 278 total and wrap up his fourth title at the Rs. 40 lakh event.

  M Dharma, Ranjit Singh and Kapil Kumar tied at the top after penultimate round

  The Gujarat Open Golf Championship 2022 presented by Gujarat Tourism seems to be heading for a fascinating finish as round three saw a three-way tie for the lead between Bengaluru’s M Dharma, Chandigarh’s Ranjit Singh and Kapil Kumar of Delhi, all placed at 10-under 206, at the Kalhaar Blues & Greens Golf Club in Ahmedabad.

  Karandeep Kochhar, another Chandigarh golfer and Delhi’s Arjun Prasad were two strokes adrift of the joint leaders in tied fourth place at the Rs. 40 lakh event.

  Tapy Ghai fires 67 to storm into halfway lead

  Tapy Ghai came up with a spirited effort for the second straight day to storm into the halfway lead at the Gujarat Open Golf Championship 2022 presented by Gujarat Tourism, the TATA Steel PGTI’s season-opener, being played at the Kalhaar Blues & Greens Golf Club in Ahmedabad.

  Twenty-six-year-old Ghai (66-67) of Gurugram, a winner on the PGTI, fired a five-under 67 in round two to move up two spots into pole position at 11-under 133 at the Rs. 40 lakh event.

  Delhi’s Kapil Kumar (68-67) also carded a brilliant 67 on Wednesday to occupy second place at nine-under 135.

  Chandigarh golfer Karandeep Kochhar’s sizzling eight-under 64 gave him the round one lead in the Gujarat Open Golf Championship 2022 presented by Gujarat Tourism, the first event of the 2022 TATA Steel PGTI season being played at the Kalhaar Blues & Greens Golf Club in Ahmedabad.

  Yashas Chandra MS of Mysuru struck a 65 to be placed second at the Rs. 40 lakh event.

  The three players tied for third place at 66 were Om Prakash Chouhan of Mhow, Tapy Ghai of Gurugram and Jaipur-based rookie Prakhar Asawa.

  The TATA Steel Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) begins the 2022 season with the second edition of the Gujarat Open Golf Championship presented by Gujarat Tourism. The tournament carrying a prize purse of Rs. 40 lakh is scheduled to be played at the magnificent Kalhaar Blues & Greens Golf Club in Ahmedabad from February 22 – 25, 2022.
