    Viraj Madappa kept his nerve on a high-scoring day to lift the trophy at the Rs. 70 lakh TATA Steel PGTI MP Cup 2021 Presented by Delhi Golf Club (DGC) Supported by Just In Time Sports Foundation. The Kolkata golfer thus bagged his second professional title and his first win in three years.

    The 23-year-old Madappa (71-67-66-70) carded a two-under 70 on the final day to end up with a tournament tally of 14-under 274. Viraj picked up a cheque of Rs. 11,31,550 which pushed him up from ninth to third place in the PGTI Order of Merit.

    Kolkata’s Viraj Madappa brought in the day’s best card of six-under 66 to storm into the joint lead at 12-under 204 along with Bengaluru’s Khalin Joshi who shot a 69 in round three of the Rs. 70 lakh TATA Steel PGTI MP Cup 2021 Presented by Delhi Golf Club (DGC) Supported by Just In Time Sports Foundation.

    The 23-year-old Madappa’s (71-67-66) late charge saw him make five birdies on the last six holes. As a result Viraj jumped five spots from his overnight tied sixth. Joshi (69-66-69), on the other hand, bogeyed the last hole that saw him drop from his overnight sole lead into the joint lead.

    The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), the official sanctioning body of professional golf in India, will be staging the TATA Steel PGTI MP Cup 2021 Presented by Delhi Golf Club (DGC) Supported by Just In Time Sports Foundation at the DGC from October 5 - 8, 2021. The tournament carries a prize purse of Rs. 70 lakh. The Pro-Am event will be held on October 9. This is the 14th event of the 2020-21 TATA Steel PGTI season. The PGTI returns to the DGC with a full-field event after seven years.
