    Angad Cheema takes pole position in round three

    Angad Cheema (69-67-69) of Chandigarh returned a steady three-under 69 to move into the lead in round three of the INR 1 crore Coal India Open being played at the Kensville Golf & Country Club in Ahmedabad. Angad’s total score read 11-under 205.

    Amardeep Malik (69-65-72) of Noida carded an even-par 72 in the penultimate round to occupy second position at a total of 10-under 206.

    Karandeep Kochhar (69-70-69), another Chandigarh golfer, signed for a 69 to be placed third on Thursday.

    Amardeep Malik surges ahead by two strokes in round two of Coal India Open 2025

    Amardeep Malik’s hot putter helped him surge ahead by two strokes in round two of the Coal India Open, an INR 1 crore event, being played at the Kensville Golf & Country Club in Ahmedabad. The Noida-based Amardeep (69-65) struck a score of seven-under 65 on Wednesday to total 10-under 134 for the week.

    Angad Cheema (69-67) of Chandigarh, who was the overnight joint leader along with Malik, posted a 67 on day two to be placed second at eight-under 136.

    Delhi’s Shaurya Bhattacharya (71-66) shot a 66 on day two to be placed third at seven-under 137.

    The halfway cut fell at five-over 149. Fifty-three professionals and one amateur made the cut.

    The opening round of the inaugural Coal India Open, an INR 1 crore event, being played at the Kensville Golf & Country Club in Ahmedabad, ended with the quartet of Noida-based Amardeep Malik, 20-year-old Delhi golfer Anshul Kabthiyal and Chandigarh golfers Angad Cheema and Karandeep Kochhar, sharing the lead at three-under 69.

    Close on the heels of the leaders, the four players bunched in tied fifth with scores of two-under 70 were PGTI Order of Merit leader Yuvraj Sandhu of Chandigarh, former PGTI Order of Merit champion Om Prakash Chouhan of Mhow, Bengaluru teenager Manoj S and Ravi Kumar from Chandimandir.

    PGTI season resumes with inaugural Coal India Open

    Coal India Limited and the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), the official sanctioning body of men’s professional golf in India, will be jointly staging the inaugural Coal India Open from August 5 – 8, 2025, at the Kensville Golf & Country Club in Ahmedabad.

    The tournament offers a total prize purse of INR 1 crore. The main event was preceded by the Pro-Am event on August 3.
