  Aman Raj closes it out with a stoic final round 73 at Gujarat Open Golf Championship 2023

  Rookie Aryan Roopa Anand takes the runner-up spot

  Patna’s Aman Raj closed out the week with a stoic final round effort of one-over 73 to bag the Gujarat Open Golf Championship 2023 title at a tournament total of 11-under 277 at the Kalhaar Blues & Greens Golf Club in Ahmedabad.

  The 27-year-old Aman (66-68-70-73), who was at the top of the leaderboard from the first round till the end, thus emerged wire-to-wire winner at the Rs. 1 crore event. The win, Aman’s second, pushed him up from 11th to second position in the TATA Steel PGTI Rankings after he took home the winning prize purse of Rs. 15,00,000.

  Local favourite Anshul Patel shoots 67, rises into joint lead with Aman Raj on day three

  Local favourite Anshul Patel struck the day’s lowest score of five-under 67 to rise into the joint lead along with Patna’s Aman Raj (70) in round three of the Rs. 1 crore Gujarat Open Golf Championship 2023 being played at the Kalhaar Blues & Greens Golf Club in Ahmedabad.

  Anshul Patel (66-71-67), playing at his home course, was tied at the top with Aman Raj (66-68-70) at a total of 12-under 204.

  There was daylight between the two 27-year-olds at the top of the pack and the rest of the field as Bengaluru-based rookie Aryan Roopa Anand (71-69-69) had the next best total of seven-under 209 that placed him third, five shots behind the joint leaders.

  Aman Raj races into three-shot lead in round two

  Home boy Anshul Patel in second place

  Patna’s Aman Raj shot a solid four-under 68 to race into a three-shot lead at a total of 10-under 134 after round two of the Rs. 1 crore Gujarat Open Golf Championship 2023 being played at the Kalhaar Blues & Greens Golf Club in Ahmedabad.

  Ahmedabad’s Anshul Patel struck a 71 at his home course to be placed second at seven-under 137.

  Greater Noida’s Arjun Sharma (69) was a further shot back in third place.

  Local lad Anshul Patel and Aman Raj emerge early leaders at Gujarat Open Golf Championship 2023

  Ahmedabad-based Anshul Patel, playing at his home course, along with Patna’s Aman Raj fired opening rounds of six-under 66 to emerge as the joint first round leaders at the Rs. 1 crore Gujarat Open Golf Championship 2023 being played at the Kalhaar Blues & Greens Golf Club in Ahmedabad.

  Rookie Makoto Iwasaki (68) of Japan was one shot behind the leaders in third place.

  Anshul Patel, who began the year with a top-10 at the Qualifying School to regain his PGTI card, was off to a cracking start in his home town as he picked up five shots on the back-nine making two long conversions and landing his approach within four feet for an eagle on the par-5 14th.
