    A tenacious performance at the Delhi Golf Club (DGC) on Sunday saw India's SSP Chawrasia finally capture the much-cherished Indian Open crown, a title that had eluded him for long.

    Chawrasia, who started the day two clear of Aussie Terry Pilkadaris (76) and four clear of compatriots Anirban Lahiri (69) and Rashid Khan (72), delivered a gritty final round of one-under-71, including a superb birdie on 18th, to end up with a winning tournament total of 15-under-273.

    Anirban Lahiri, Rashid Khan in tied third, Rahil Gangjee lies tied fifth

    In a stark contrast from day two, Indians crowded the leaderboard on day three of the Hero Indian Open. While SSP Chawrasia led the field, there were also four other Indians, Anirban Lahiri, Rashid Khan, Rahil Gangjee and Arjun Atwal, in the top-10.

    Two-time European Tour winner S.S.P. Chawrasia produced a short game masterclass as he returned with a third round four-under-68 to hold a two-shot lead over Australian Terry Pilkadaris at 14-under-202 at the US$1.66 million event sanctioned by the Asian Tour and European Tour.

    India’s SSP Chawrasia ended round two of the Hero Indian Open in tied second place after a second consecutive round of five-under-67. Chawrasia totalled 10-under-134 at the halfway stage and thus made a gain of three spots from his overnight tied fifth.

    Promising start for SSP Chawrasia & Anirban Lahiri

    Sanjay Kumar & Honey Baisoya also impress on day one

    The Indian duo of SSP Chawrasia and defending champion Anirban Lahiri, two of the pre-tournament favourites at the Hero Indian Open 2016, lived up to the expectations of the home crowd at the Delhi Golf Club on Thursday as they delivered opening rounds of five-under-67 and four-under-68 to  be placed tied fifth and tied 10th respectively.

    Sanjay Kumar (67) and Honey Baisoya (68) also had impressive starts and were placed joint fifth and joint 10th respectively at the US$ 1.66 million tournament.
