CAREER HIGHLIGHTS                          
                         
•    Gaurav Ghei won an Asian Seniors Tour event at the Bangkok Golf Course in Thailand in 2019.

 

•    Gaurav was fourth at the BILT Open 2011 and posted two top-10 finishes during the 2010 PGTI season.


•    Ghei claimed tied fifth at the Asian Tour’s Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters 2009.


•    His three top-10s on the PGTI in 2009 included two top-3s at the PGTI Players Championship at Chandigarh and the ONGC Masters.

 

•    In 2008, Ghei finished tied fourth at the Worldwide Selangor Masters (Asian Tour) and tied sixth at the Emaar-MGF Indian Masters (tri-sanctioned event of the European Tour, Asian Tour and PGTI).

 

•    The year 2007 was one of his best on the Asian Tour as he not only won the Pine Valley Beijing Open but also finished in the top-6 in three other tournaments, the Johnnie Walker Classic (tied sixth), Macau Open (third) and the Iskandar Johor Open (tied fourth).

 

•    Secured three top-10 finishes out of four starts during the 2006-07 PGTI season.

 

•    Represented India at the World Cup of Golf on three occasions - 1997 (with Arjun Singh), 2003 (with Digvijay Singh) and 2007 (with Jyoti Randhawa).  

 

•    Had a highly successful season on the Asian Tour in 2006 registering a win at the Mercuries Taiwan Masters.

 

•    Won the runners-up title at the Hero Honda Indian Open in 2005.

 

•    Third place finishes at the Taiwan Open 2005, Indian Open 2000 and Myanmar Open 2000.

 

•    Won the Asian Nations Cup 1999 Individual Event (World Cup Qualifying Event) in Malaysia.

 

•    In 1997 became the first Indian to qualify for a Major event after he qualified for the British Open. The same year he secured second place at the Hero Honda Masters.

 

•    Won the Asian Tour’s Johnnie Walker Asian Player of the Year Award in 1997. 

 

•    In 1996, Gaurav made international headlines when he defeated Colin Montgomerie (World No. 2 at the time) in the Alfred Dunhill Cup at St Andrews as India stunned Scotland at the home of golf. The other two members of the Indian team were Jeev Milkha Singh and Ali Sher.

 

•    Ghei emerged as the Order of Merit winner in the 1996-97 season of the Indian professional circuit. He also posted a win at the All India Matchplay Championship in the same season.  

 

•    His maiden Asian Tour title came in 1995 when he claimed the Gadgil Western Masters. He dramatically chipped in for an eagle at the 72nd hole for victory. He thus became the first Indian to win on the Asian Tour.

 

•    Won the Asian Tour’s APPLE Trophy in 1995.

 

•    Won the Desaru Classic 1994 (Malaysian Tour).

 

•    Ranked No. 1 Amateur in India in 1991, won the Eastern India Amateur during the season.

 

•    Won the Western India Amateur and Bangalore Centenary Open in 1990.

 

•    Was the All India Amateur finalist in 1983 & 1986.

 

•    Represented India at various international events from 1984 to 1991, these included Beijing Asian Games 1990, APGC Nomura Cup 1987 & 1991 and Eisenhower Trophy 1990.

 

•    Won the DSJA (Delhi Sports Journalists Award) for Best Young Sportsman in 1984.

 

•    Won All India Junior, Western India Junior and Northern India Junior in 1986, Northern India Junior 1985, British Aerospace Junior 1984, Northern India Sub Junior 1983 and All India Sub Junior 1982.
