Jeev Milkha Singh misses out on qualifying for US Open

India's Jeev Milkha Singh missed out on a place in the US Open after he fell out of contention in a playoff at the International Sectional Qualifier at Walton Heath in Surrey, United Kingdom.

Jeev (71-71), a six-time Asian Tour winner, who also holds multiple wins in Europe and Japan, was tied 11th at two-under-142 along with four others after two rounds. He was thus involved in a five-man playoff to determine the final three qualifiers out of a total of 13 to the year's second Major which will be held at the Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, from June 16-19.

Germany's Max Kieffer was first to secure his spot after he holed out from the bunker on the first hole. Denmark's Soren Hansen then birdied the second playoff hole to clinch his ticket after Sweden's Johan Edfors' bogey had dropped him out of the running.

Singh and Sweden's Sebastian Soderberg were then left to battle for the last coveted spot and after two more holes, Singh was eventually eliminated when Soderberg prevailed with a birdie on the fourth playoff hole.

Shubhankar Sharma (83-73) finished 70th at 12-over-156.

Shiv Kapur withdrew after his first round of five-over-77.

Anirban Lahiri will be the only Indian at this year's US Open having qualified by virtue of being in the top-60 of the world rankings.
