Slow start for Anirban at Augusta

India’s Anirban Lahiri, last season’s Asian Tour number one, endured a disappointing 76 following a triple bogey six on the par three 16th hole to lie in a share of 59th position on the first day of The Masters at Augusta.

Lahiri, who made the halfway cut in his debut at the Masters last year, was cruising at level par following two birdies against as many bogeys before disaster struck on 16.

He found the water hazard with his tee shot and after finding the green with his penalty shot, the Indian needed three more putts to find the hole before going on to bogey 17.

Defending champion Jordan Spieth was in the lead with a six-under-66.
