Gangjee makes good start in Singapore
India’s Rahil Gangjee made a good start at the US$1 million SMBC Singapore Open as he fired three birdies during his opening round of three-under-68 to be tied seventh in the clubhouse on a day which saw early suspension of play due to lightning.
Gangjee was two shots off the lead at the end of day one at the Asian Tour and Japan Golf Tour co-sanctioned event. South African Keith Horne and American Berry Henson were the joint clubhouse leaders at five-under. Henson had one hole remaining when play was suspended.
A total of 57 players will resume their first round rounds at 7.30 am with the second round scheduled to commence at 8.10 am.
Among the other Indians, Rashid Khan was tied 11th at two-under through 14 holes, Shiv Kapur and Himmat Rai were both in tied 21st at one-under-70 while SSP Chawrasia’s round of even-par-71 placed him tied 37th.
Gaganjeet Bhullar (75) was tied 115th, Arjun Atwal (78) and Jeev Milkha Singh (78) were both tied 147th while Chiragh Kumar (79) was tied 150th.
