Chikka is joint leader after round three, Shubhankar in tied 17th, both well on course to secure Asian Tour card

India’s Chikkarangappa S has all but secured his Asian Tour card for 2016 as he holds the joint lead after round three of the Asian Tour Qualifying School Final Stage.  Chikka (67-64-72), the 2015 Rolex Ranking champion, returned a one-over-72 on day three that took his total to 10-under-203 and placed him in the joint lead along with American Tom Johnson.

The 22-year-old Chikka moved up one place from overnight second despite an over-par round that featured four birdies, three bogeys and a double-bogey.

Chikka’s compatriot, nineteen-year-old Shubhankar Sharma, is also in the hunt for his first ever Asian Tour card. Shubhankar (68-69-71) posted an even-par-71 in the third round to lie tied 17th at five-under-208.

At the end of the final round, the top-40 and ties will earn an Asian Tour card for the 2016 season.

Among the other Indians who made the halfway cut, Rahul Bajaj was tied 61st at even-par-213, Manu Gandas was tied 78th at one-over-214, Honey Baisoya was tied 96th at three-over-216 and Amardip Sinh Malik was tied 104th at four-over-217.
