Defending champ Shankar Das starts week on a positive note with victory at first Pro-Am event of McLeod Russel Tour Championship 2015
Defending champion and local lad Shankar Das sent out a strong signal to the rest of the field as he led his team to victory at the first Pro-Am event of the McLeod Russel Tour Championship 2015 at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC) on Tuesday.
The Pro-Am event was played in the Strokeplay (nett) format with all amateurs receiving 3/4th of their original handicap as their allowance. Maximum strokes permitted were 18. Two best nett scores per hole were counted towards the team total. The team score comprised the aggregate of the two best nett scores on each hole over 18 holes.
Kolkata-based professional Shankar Das led his team, comprising of amateurs Ms. Siddhi Kapoor, Mr. Hironmoy Gon and Mr. Pushpendra Singh Rathore, to victory with a team total of 130.
The runner-up team was led by Noida-based professional Amardip Sinh Malik. Malik’s team consisted of amateurs Mr. Ranjit Singh, Mr. Karan Singh and Mr. Samir Bedi. Their team total was 132.
In the Super Seniors category, Bengaluru professional R Murthy and his team comprising of amateurs Mr. Pratic Sen, Mr. Shyamal Bhattacharya and Mr. S P Grover, took the top honours.
