Gangjee zooms into top-10 in Manila

Lahiri makes gains in Dubai

Rahil Gangjee carded a brilliant six-under-66 to zoom into the top-10 at the halfway stage of the Asian Tour’s US$1 million Resorts World Manila Masters. Gangjee, who had shot an even-par-72 in round one, totalled six-under-138 after two days to be four off the lead.

Rahil came up with an eagle, five birdies and a bogey in round two to climb up 44 places from his overnight tied 54th.

SSP Chawrasia returned his second straight 70 to end the second day in tied 25th place at four-under-140.

Chikkarangappa signed a solid 67 on Friday to rise 47 places to tied 37th at three-under-141. Chikka’s round included four consecutive birdies from the 15th to the 18th.

Shiv Kapur, Jyoti Randhawa, who was overnight tied fourth, and Shubhankar Sharma were in tied 45th at two-under-142.

Chiragh Kumar was the seventh Indian to make the cut. He was tied 63rd at even-par-144.

Elsewhere, at the European Tour’s DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, Anirban Lahiri made big gains with his second round of five-under-67. Lahiri made seven birdies and a double-bogey on Friday to climb up 23 places to tied 23rd at four-under-140.
