Rashid Khan claims tied third at Mercuries Taiwan Masters
India’s Rashid Khan claimed tied third place at the US$650,000 Mercuries Taiwan Masters on Sunday after finishing with a total of one-over-289 at the Asian Tour event. Rashid, who shot scores of 68, 70, 75 and 76 during the week, finished four shots behind the winner Danny Chia of Malaysia.
Khan, who was overnight third, maintained his position on the leaderboard despite returning a four-over-76 in the final round. The 24-year-old, a two-time winner on the Asian Tour, lamented a disappointing performance but took pride in his tied-third place result in what was his first attempt at the Mercuries Taiwan Masters.
“I didn’t putt well again today. I was just grinding out there and trying to hang in there throughout the round. It’s been a learning week for me and although I didn’t finish well, I’m still happy with a tied-third place finish and looking forward to the next few tournaments coming up,” said Rashid.
Himmat Rai was tied 20th at seven-over-295 while Gaganjeet Bhullar was a further shot back in tied 23rd. Chikkarangappa ended the tournament in tied 27th at nine-over-297 and Chiragh Kumar was tied 42nd at 13-over-301.
At the European Tour’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship inScotland, Jyoti Randhawa, the lone Indian to make the cut, finished in tied 43rd at seven-under-281. Randhawa shot scores of 70, 69, 71 and 71.
