Anirban Lahiri posts steady two-under-69 for tied seventh place on day one of Alstom Open De France

Anirban Lahiri posted a steady two-under-69 for a share of seventh place on the rain-marred first day of the European Tour's Alstom Open De France.

Lahiri was on fire on the front-nine having made three birdies and an eagle to make the turn at five-under. However, he slipped with a bogey and a double-bogey on the back-nine.

The first round could not be completed on Thursday due to a two and a half hour rain delay. The clubhouse lead was held by Maximilian Kieffer of Germany who was four-under through 15 holes.

Shiv Kapur was three-over through 15 holes to be tied 84th while Jeev Milkha Singh shot a five-over-76 to be tied 113th.

Three players who are not already exempt and finish inside the top-10 at the tournament will secure berths at this month's British Open.
