Amardip Sinh Malik powers ahead on day two

Amardip Sinh Malik of Greater Noida powered ahead in round two of the PGTI Noida Masters with a five-under-67. Malik thus totaled seven-under-137 at the halfway stage of the seventh and final Super Series event of 2014. Mukesh Kumar of Mhow was in second place at five-under-139 after a second round of one-over-73.

The cut was declared at seven-over-151. Fifty-two professionals made the cut.

Amardip Sinh Malik (70-67), who was overnight joint second, climbed to the top in the second round after a fantastic 67 that featured seven birdies and a double-bogey. Malik, currently placed 49th in the Rolex Rankings, now leads by two shots.

Mukesh Kumar (66-73), the overnight leader by four shots, slipped to second place after an ordinary 73 in round two. Mukesh made an eagle and two birdies against five bogeys.

Noida's Vikrant Chopra ended the day in tied third along with Bangladesh's Md Zamal Hossain Mollah at three-under-141.

Rolex Rankings and Super Series leader Chikkarangappa S of Bangalore shared fifth place along with Mhow's Om Prakash Chouhan and Shamim Khan of Delhi at two-under-142.

Delhi's Rashid Khan, who is currently second in the Super Series, closed round two in tied 27th place at three-over-147.
