Shubhankar, Sujjan start on winning note
Teenager Shubhankar Sharma and Sujjan Singh gave themselves a fine boost by taking their respective teams to victory in the morning and evening Pro-Ams, which kick-started the fourth edition of the Panasonic Open India 2014 on Wednesday.
The 18-year-old Shubhankar, who has been dividing his time between PGTI and Asian Development Tour, won his maiden pro title on PGTI Tour this year and is lying fifth on the Rolex PGTI Rankings. His teammates in the Pro-Am were Joydeep Nayar, Pankaj Sharma and Zutshi. Australian pro Unho Park and Singapore’s Choo Tze Huang’s teams were second and third.
The top three teams were level on points and the winners were declared on countback.
Morning Pro-Am Final results: Winner: Shubhankar Sharma (IND) (Pro); Joydeep Nayar, Pankaj Sharma and Sidharth; 1strunner-up: Unho Park (AUS) (pro); Col Narendra Singh, Ravi Shankar Singh and Capt Kawaljeet Singh; 2nd runner-up: Choo Tze Huang (SIN) (Pro); Rajeev Mittal; Astha Mittal and Kilam.
In the evening, Sujjan Singh, who won a ADT title in 2012, but is still looking for first win on Asian Tour, led his team to victory, while teams led by Md. Zamal Hossain Mollah of Bangladesh and Angad Cheema were second and third.
