Professional Golf Tour of India Annual Rolex Awards 2012

• Shamim Khan is named Rolex Player of the Year for 2012. Takes home over Rs. 57 lakh in prize money for the season • Rolex awards four first-time winners for 2012 • Abhijit Singh Chadha wins Emerging Player of the Year award for 2012.Takes home over Rs. 18 lakh in prize money in rookie year on PGTI • Aditya Raj Kumar Chauhan wins Order of Merit for the 2012 PGTI Feeder Tour season.The Professional Golf Tour of India Annual Rolex Awards 2012 honored the top performers of the 2012 PGTI season on Wednesday at the Jaypee Greens Golf Resort. Mr. Gautam Thapar, President of the PGTI and Chairman and CEO of Avantha Group, and Mr. Yogesh Shah, CEO & Managing Director of Rolex India presided over the awards function.

During the event, Mr. Gautam Thapar said, “The PGTI has emerged stronger and stronger in every successive season in terms of tournaments, prize money and level of competition. The 2012 season was very successful with many new names coming to the fore and an increasing number of youngsters showcasing their talent. This awards ceremony serves as the ideal platform to acknowledge and appreciate the achievements of our golfers over the last year and encourage them further.”

Shamim Khan was named Rolex Player of the Year 2012 and was presented with a Rolex timepiece by Mr. Yogesh Shah. The Delhi golfer topped the Professional Golf Tour of India’s Rolex Rankings for 2012 with total earnings of Rs. 5,747,713. for the season.

The Rolex First Time Winners Awards were presented to professionals Abhijit Singh Chadha, Om Prakash Chouhan, Rashid Khan and Ajeetesh Sandhu. These four professionals registered their maiden victories on the PGTI during the2012 season.

Abhijit Singh Chadha received the Emerging Player of the Year Award. He won this award on the basis of accumulating the highest earnings among all those professionals who made their debut as full card holders on the PGTI in the 2012 season. Chadha, who hails from Chandigarh, took home over Rs. 18 lakh in prize money for the year 2012.

Delhi-based Aditya Raj Kumar Chauhan won the 2012 PGTI Feeder Tour Order of Merit with earnings of Rs. 123,325 for the season.

Delivering the key note address, Mr. Padamjit Sandhu, Director of the PGTI, shared the key moments in PGTI’s journey over the years and thanked Rolex for their strong and strategic support.
