Chowrasia in tied 18th at halfway stage, Gangjee climbs to tied 25th

Six out of 12 Indians make the cut

SSP Chowrasia (71-70) returned a two-under-70 in round two of the Maybank Malaysian Open to climb from overnight tied 31st to tied 18th. Chowrasia continued to be the highest placed Indian in the field as his total read three-under-141. The Kolkata golfer was placed 10 shots behind the leader Lee Westwood of England at the halfway stage. Chowrasia made four birdies and a double-bogey in the second round.

Rahil Gangjee's (74-68) 68 was the best score among the Indians on day two. It helped him make a huge jump from overnight tied 74th to tied 25th. Rahil's second round was dotted with six birdies and two bogeys and took his total score to two-under-142.

Rashid Khan, Anirban Lahiri and Chiragh Kumar were all placed tied 47th at even-par-144.

Shiv Kapur's second round 69 made him the sixth Indian to make the cut. He made the cut by one shot as he was placed tied 62nd at one-over-145.

The six Indians to miss the cut were Jyoti Randhawa (two-over-146), Jeev Milkha Singh (four-over-148), Digvijay Singh (five-over-149), Arjun Atwal (five-over-149), Gaganjeet Bhullar (six-over-150) and Himmat Rai (10-over-154).
