Veer Ahlawat shoots final round of 67 to finish tied ninth at the Swiss Challenge
India’s Veer Ahlawat (69-61-74-67) fired a solid final round score of four-under 67 to finish tied ninth at a total of 13-under 271 at the HotelPlanner Tour's Swiss Challenge played at Golf Sempach in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Ahlawat, the 2024 DP World PGTI Order of Merit champion, finished ten shots behind the winner Matthew Southgate of England.
Veer, who was the joint halfway leader as a result of his sensational 10-under 61 on day two, climbed four spots to tied ninth position on the last day.
The 30-year-old Ahlawat had a slow start to the fourth round as he dropped a bogey on the seventh and collected his first birdie of the day on the 10th. Veer then went on to sink four more birdies between the 13th and the 17th holes that helped him make his way into the top-10 from his overnight tied 13th position.
Veer, who earned a DP World Tour card in 2025 following his Order of Merit victory on the DP World PGTI in 2024, said, “I started a little slow as I didn’t strike the ball well and also didn’t land it close to the pins on the first few holes. After six holes I began to land it close but I still wasn’t holing putts at that stage. My putts started rolling in from the 10th hole onwards.
“My ball-striking has been very good this week. I’m pleased with my game as I’m also converting more putts now. All of this has added to my confidence ahead of the next few weeks on the HotelPlanner Tour.
“This is my fourth event of the season and I’m getting used to the weather. My main goal this season is to win and improve my ranking on the HotelPlanner Tour in order to earn back my card on the DP World Tour for next season.
“Considering my great position at the halfway stage this week, I really wanted to finish well in round four in order to prove to myself that I can still post a top-5 or top-10 result here in Europe.”
DP World PGTI member Jhared Hack of the United States took tied 21st place in Switzerland after he totaled 10-under 274 for the week.
