Kapur lies tied 69th in Dubai
Shiv Kapur's even-par-72 round on day one of the Dubai Desert Classic placed him tied 69th. Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland took the lead with a stunning nine-under-63 in round one at the $2.5 million European Tour event.
Kapur made a birdie and a bogey in his opening round.
Jeev Milkha Singh's three-over-75 placed him tied 111th while Gaganjeet Bhullar's five-over-77 meant he closed the day at tied 125th.
