Amateur Aryaman Aditya Mohan Lal and Varun Chopra top Pre Qualifying III, 26 players advance to Final Stage

Amateur Aryaman Aditya Mohan Lal of Mumbai and US-based professional Varun Chopra topped the leaderboard at Pre Qualifying III with totals of 11-under 133 at the TATA Steel PGTI Qualifying School 2023 played at the Golmuri Golf Course in Jamshedpur.

From a total field of 110 in Pre Qualifying III, the top 26 players advanced to the Final Qualifying Stage as the cut was declared at one-over 145.

Aryaman Aditya Mohan Lal (68-65) shot the day’s best score of seven-under 65 to move up three spots from his overnight tied fourth position. Aryaman made an outstanding 10 birdies in exchange for three bogeys on Saturday. He had an incredible start as he made birdies on his first four holes.

Varun Chopra (62-71), who had shot a sensational 62 to take the first round lead, carded a one-under 71 on day two, to end up joint first along with Aryaman. Varun made three birdies and a double-bogey on day two.

Delhi’s Nikhil Kumar Sharma finished third at nine-under 135.

A total of 74 players progressed from the Pre Qualifying Stage. They will join another 53 players in the Final Stage where the total field will consist of 127 players. The Final Stage will be held from January 31 to February 3 at the Tollygunge Club in Kolkata.
