PGTI Announces Super Series

"Winner takes all" Bonus of Rupees 30 lac

Series to feature seven events 
Winner will win a bonus of Rs.30 lacs based on a points system
Strong field confirmed for the Super Series Season Opener ‘PGTI Ahmedabad Masters’

Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) today announced the newly introduced big bonus shootout, the ‘PGTI Super Series’ scheduled to be played over seven events. The seven events on the ‘PGTI Super Series’ will carry a prize purse of over Rs. 3.5 Cr. Existing events on the PGTI could form a part of the ‘PGTI Super Series’ along with new championships.

The Prize money of each event of the newly launched series will count towards Rolex Rankings but the bonus of Rs. 30 lacs will not count towards the Rolex Rankings.

PGTI Ahmedabad Masters presented by Kalhaar Blues & Greens, an event on the Super Series, scheduled to be held from January 29 – February 1, 2014 in Ahmedabad will kick off the 2014 season. Top Indian professionals Anirban Lahiri, SSP Chowrasia, Rahil Ganjee, Himmat Singh Rai and Rashid Khan among others have confirmed their participation in the opening event of the series as the PGTI makes its debut in Gujarat. 

The PGTI will also make its debut in the state of Kerala with the PGTI Cochin Masters presented by CIAL Golf & Country Club. With a three year partnership, PGTI will work closely with the host club to promote the golf club, local talent, and Kerala as a golfing and tourism destination.

PGTI is also firming up its debut in Jammu & Kashmir with a super series event, the PGTI Srinagar Masters in June 2014.

Announcing the Super Series, Mr. Padamjit Sandhu, Director, PGTI, said, “With the introduction of the ‘PGTI Super Series’, our effort will be to create more lucrative opportunities for top PGTI professionals on Indian soil and showcase high quality golf to a larger audience. We will partner with local sponsors & golf clubs to help upgrade the events and grow the sport in their respective regions, and help promote the venues and the destinations through our broadcast partners. With over Rs. 3.5 Crore in prize money over the seven weeks and a winner takes all bonus of Rs. 30 lacs, we are confident the Super Series will develop into a strong leg on the Tour.”
