Karan Taunk finishes on top in Pre Qualifying I

Jamshedpur’s Karan Taunk (64-72) finished on top of the leaderboard at the end of round two of the PGTI’s Pre Qualifying I for the 2014 season being held at the Poona Club Golf Course in Pune. Taunk followed up his sublime 64 in round one with a one-over-72 on day two to end up with a two-day total of six-under-136.

A total of 40 players qualified from Pre Qualifying I for the Final Qualifying Stage as four players were tied at 37th position when the cut was declared at nine-over-151.

Karan Taunk fired two birdies, a bogey and a double-bogey in his second round on Wednesday.

Vipin Kumar Sharma (70-70) of Noida shot the day’s joint best score of one-under-70 to join Pune’s Pravin Pathare (69-71) in tied second place at two-under-140.

Ajay Shashikant Controllu was placed fourth at even-par-142.
