TATA Steel PGTI Feeder Tour event to begin in Faridabad from July 23

The 2019 TATA Steel Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) Feeder Tour will stage its second event of the season at the Aravalli Golf Club in Faridabad, from July 23 – 25, 2019. The tournament carries a prize purse of Rs. 8 lakh.

As a general rule, the top-60 players from the 2018 PGTI Order of Merit are not eligible to play on the Feeder Tour in 2019. However, two spots will be allocated in all Feeder Tour events for top-60 players from last year’s (2018) Order of Merit. The winner of this year’s Feeder Tour Order of Merit will earn an exemption on the main tour for the 2020 season.

The two top-60 players in the field at Faridabad would be Chandigarh’s Harendra Gupta, a winner of nine professional titles, and Delhi’s Sachin Baisoya, who has posted two top-10s on the PGTI main tour this year.

The two local professionals in the field are Faridabad-based players Abhinav Lohan and Ramesh Kumar.

The field in the tournament will feature a total of 72 players. The top 36 players and ties will make the cut after the first two rounds.

The Aravalli Golf Course is owned and operated by Haryana Tourism and derives its nomenclature from the Aravallis, a mountain range that runs across Haryana. It is a unique geological feature, the antiquity of which adds to its magnificence.

Set up in the year 1966, it was the first golf green to be laid in Faridabad. The building was designed by the famous architect Joseph Allan Stein and the course design was laid by Stephan Kay, the famous golf architect from U.S.A. The golf course was taken over by Haryana Tourism in 1988 and re-designed by Stephan Kay. Now the course is spread over 75 acres spanning 12 holes.
