Arjun Atwal fires a sizzling first round of six-under-65 to be tied fourth at 3M Open

Arjun Atwal, who made it to the main draw of the PGA Tour's 3M Open after winning the Monday qualifier, continued his hot form by making a cracking start to the event with an opening round of six-under-65. Atwal is now placed tied fourth, three off the lead.

Arjun, the only Indian winner on the PGA Tour, made an eagle, five birdies and a bogey during round one at Blaine, Minnesota.

The lead was held by American Scott Piercy at nine-under-62.

Anirban Lahiri, the other Indian in the field, shot an even-par-71 to be tied 92nd.

Elsewhere, at the European Tour's Dubai Duty Free Irish Open being played in Lahinch, Ireland, India's Gaganjeet Bhullar fired a three-under-67 to be tied 19th, four off the lead.

The lead was held by Irishman Padraig Harrington at seven-under-63.

Shubhankar Sharma and SSP Chawrasia returned scores of two-over-72 to be tied 114th.
