bti Open 2018 returns for its Sixth Edition

Now an Asian Development Tour event

The Sixth bti OPEN 2018, an International Golf Tournament, will be held at the pristine Kurmitola Golf Club (KGC), from 24 - 27 April, 2018 and will carry a prize purse of BDT 50.00 lac. 

The tournament is Tri-sanctioned by Asian Development Tour (ADT), Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) and Bangladesh Professional Golf Association (BPGA) and approved by Bangladesh Golf Federation (BGF). 

This is a 72-hole stroke-play tournament featuring a field of 132 players including 40 professionals from the BPGA, 45 professionals from the PGTI and 45 professionals from the ADT. The cut will be applied after the first 36 holes. The top 50 players and ties will make the halfway cut and continue to play for another 36 holes. Country representatives in this tournament are from Singapore, Japan, USA, Sweden, Finland, Argentina, Malaysia, Australia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, Wales, New Zealand, and Bangladesh for the total prize money of BDT 50 lac. 

The title sponsor of the tournament is building technology & ideas Ltd. The Chairman of bti said they are very focused to promote golf in Bangladesh and this is the sixth international Golf tournament they have become title sponsor of. 

This is the second tri-sanctioned tournament hosted in Bangladesh this year and is set to feature some of the top names of the South Asian region, including the star golfer from Bangladesh - Mr. Siddikur Rahman. In addition, the Bangladeshi trio of Md Zamal Hossain Mollah (two-time winner on the PGTI), Md Shakhawat Hossain Sohel and Md Dulal Hossain will lead the charge for the host nation.

Adnan Othman, Tournament Director, Asian Development Tour, said the course is in excellent condition. He added, "It’s better than the last time I was here. Weather wise it is uncertain. We are expecting rain. But hopefully we will finish all four rounds."  

Asif Ibrahim, President, BPGA said about how he is looking forward to this upcoming event and is excited to see the sixth edition of bti Open 2018 unfold at KGC, Dhaka. "We have been working hard to lift the standard of the game and exploring more opportunities by arranging more tours for professional golfers for last two years. Brig Gen Quamrul Islam (retd), SPP, Secretary General, BPGA said, " I am happy that the BPGA has been able to work closely with the cause of developing professional golf in the region alongside ADT and PGTI. I believe this sort of Tri-sanctioned tournament will act as a launching pad for the potential golfers to flourish. Besides, such golf tournaments will make Bangladesh a golfing destination and support tourism and economy of the country."

Siddikur Rahman, Professional Golfer, said, "I start every tournament with the target of winning. So my target will be the same next week. The Kurmitola golf course looks in beautiful conditions and it will be challenging as always."

Johnson Poh, Professional Golfer, said "I'm feeling really good after winning the Johor golf tournament two weeks ago. So I’m planning to ride on the momentum. The weather in Dhaka reminds me of my home in Singapore."
