Sanjay Kumar shoots a four-under-66 to grab round one lead

Lucknow golfers dominated the opening round of the PGTI Feeder Tour at Lucknow Golf Club. Local lad and defending champion Sanjay Kumar fired a four-under-66 to take the round one lead. Two other Lucknow-based professionals Vijay Kumar and Sanjeev Kumar came up with scores of three-under-67 to be placed joint second.
Sanjay Kumar’s 66 featured an eagle, five birdies and three bogeys. Sanjay began the tournament in sensational fashion as he made eagle on the first hole after his approach shot from 150 yards landed in the hole. The 42-year-old sank birdie putts from a range of 12 to 15 feet on three occasions. His bogey on the eighth came as a result of a three-putt while he missed chip-putts to drop his other two bogeys of the day on the 15th and 18th.
Sanjay said, “It was great to start the tournament with an eagle. That got my momentum going. I expect to do well this week since I’m the defending champion and this also happens to be my home course. My putting was exceptional today as I made some long putts. I’ve performed well on the PGTI so far this year and hope to further raise my game in the remaining events of the season.”
Vijay Kumar and Sanjeev Kumar shot scores of 67 to be tied second. Vijay made four birdies and a bogey in his round while Sanjeev had five birdies against two bogeys.
Honey Baisoya of Delhi is placed fourth at 68 while Feeder Tour Order of Merit leader Arjun Singh Chaudhri of Noida posted a 71 to occupy tied 18th place.
