TAKE Classic sets in motion second half of PGTI season

Tournament to have prize purse of Rs. 50 lakhs

The TAKE Classic, scheduled to be played at the Kalhaar Blues & Greens in Ahmedabad from August 30th – September 2nd, 2017, will set in motion the second half of the Professional Golf Tour of India’s (PGTI) 2017 season. The TAKE Classic, the eighth event of the 2017 season, carries a prize purse of Rs. 50 lakh.

The tournament features some of the top Indian professionals such as Shubhankar Sharma, Chiragh Kumar, Khalin Joshi and Mukesh Kumar, to name a few. Shamim Khan, the current money list leader, will resume his campaign for a second PGTI Order of Merit title.

The international challenge will be led by the Sri Lankan quartet of Mithun Perera, Anura Rohana, N Thangaraja and K Prabagaran, Australian Kunal Bhasin, South African Damian Naicker and Swaziland’s Arthur Horne.

The Kalhaar Blues & Greens is a world-class championship course developed by the Navratna Group and designed by ‘Nicklaus Design’, a company owned by the legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus. The course complies with the United States Golf Association (USGA) specifications. 

The par-72 course is spread over 175 acres and plays to 7425 yards from the championship tees, making it the longest golf course in India. The layout offers unique challenges such as sand and beach bunkers and 14 water bodies. The course also features a scenic ‘Island green’ on Hole No. 7 – a 174 yards, Par-3.
