TAKE Solutions taking Indian golf to new heights
Professional golf in India has been on an upsurge and credit for the same goes to TAKE Solutions. TAKE's visionaries have been an integral part of the growth of the game in the country. The man behind supporting the game extensively, Srinivasan HR, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of the TAKE Solutions came into the limelight when he first started the TAKE Solutions World Corporate Golf Challenge over a decade ago for the corporate golfers. Seeing the succession of this corporate annual event, Srinivasan soon became one of the integral parts of professional golf in India as well as Asia.
In 2012, Srinivasan bought a team of three golfers at the Louis Philippe Cup, a city-based franchisee tournament of Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI). In fact TAKE Solutions was one of the two non-real estate companies amongst the ten franchises who became a part of the IPL style format tourney. “I found the concept of an ‘IPL’ style golf tournament novel and as a passionate evangelist of the game, I was excited to use this unique platform to build excitement around the game. As a Chennai headquartered company, we named our team TAKE Chennai, who are the current champions.”
As a step further for the development of golf, TAKE Solutions joined hands with the Asian Tour and sponsored the first ever Asian Development Tour (ADT) event in India in 2014. The tournament was called the TAKE Solution India Masters and was played under the region’s secondary circuit managed by the Asian Tour. The TAKE Solutions India Masters created opportunities for Indian players who were regulars on the ADT Tour, to boost their ADT rankings.
Srinivasan said, “Sponsoring the first ADT event in India was an honour as it opened many doors for our players to compete on an international level in familiar circumstances. I am glad that some of the local players who played in this tournament took full advantage of this kind of an opportunity to fast-track their careers.”
Srinivasan’s involvement in the development of pro golf has impressed the entire golfing industry because of which he became one of the board members of the PGTI last year. In a very short span of his close association with the PGTI, Srinivasan sponsored two domestic tournaments in 2016 i.e. The TAKE Solutions Classic and the TAKE Open Golf Championship.
“I feel that professional golf can not survive in India without the corporate support. It is essential for corporates to provide greater playing opportunities for our golfers. This is an agenda that TAKE has been dedicated to for over a decade.” said Srinivasan.
TAKE Solutions has now taken another initiative for the evolution of game in India by brining the inaugural US$300,000 TAKE Solutions Masters, a co-sanctioned event by the Asian Tour and the PGTI. The tournament will give an advantage to over 50 Indian golfers to showcase their skills along with the international golfers at the Karnataka Golf Association in Bengaluru. The winner will be given full playing rights on the Asian Tour until the end of 2018.
“I always believe that a right platform to our Indian golfers can do wonders and bring laurels to the country. From sponsoring domestic events and ADT events to the Asian Tour now, it is a natural progression. This tournament will help promising golfers emerging on the domestic circuit to test and sharpen their skill against the best in the region,” mentioned Srinivasan.
TAKE Solutions commitment to the game doesn't just end with sponsoring the events but the brand also has various ambassadors in the form of four-time European Tour winner SSP Chawrasia, Asian Tour regulars Chiragh Kumar, Chikkarangappa S, Khalin Joshi and Shubhankar Sharma.
