Atwal slips to tied 18th at Quicken Loans National
India’s Arjun Atwal slipped seven shots off the pace to tied 18th place after signing for a third round five-over-75 at the Quicken Loans National on Saturday.
Atwal, a former Asian Tour Order of Merit winner and the first Indian to win on the PGA Tour, started the day in tied fourth position following a second round 67, but a penultimate round of 75 that featured a lone birdie against six bogeys saw him slip 14 places.
Atwal, who is playing in the tournament for the third straight year on a sponsor’s invite, was even-par through the front-nine but then dropped five bogeys on the back-nine including four on the trot from the 10th to the 13th.He thus ended up with a three-day total of even-par-210 at the TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm.
David Lingmerth of Sweden leads the tournament with a total of seven-under-203.
