Lahiri best placed Indian in tied ninth after round three of Maybank Championship

Trails the leader by six

Anirban Lahiri (69-68-69) shot a third round of three-under-69 at the Maybank Championship in Malaysia to be the best placed Indian in tied ninth at 10-under-206. He trailed the leader Danny Willett of England by six strokes.

Lahiri, the winner of seven international titles, produced five birdies and two bogeys in the penultimate round where he missed a bunch of putts. He thus slipped two places from his overnight tied seventh.

Shubhankar Sharma (68-68-71) also dropped six spots to 11th after a round of 71 on day three. His total read nine-under-207.

Gaganjeet Bhullar moved up two places to tied 12th courtesy a 70 on Saturday that took his total to eight-under-208.

Shiv Kapur (72) was the fourth Indian inside the top-20. He slipped nine places to tied 16th in round three as his total stood at seven-under-209.

Among the other Indians, Rashid Khan closed the day in tied 23rd at six-under-210, Chiragh Kumar occupied tied 44th at three-under-213 and Jyoti Randhawa was in 68th at one-over-217.
