Mukesh Kumar’s breakthrough Asian Tour win sets many a record

Here’s a look at some of the interesting stats relating to Mukesh Kumar’s win at the Panasonic Open India 2016:

• Mukesh’s first international and Asian Tour victory. 

• At 51 years and 126 days he became the oldest golfer to claim an Asian Tour title.

• He becomes the 22nd Indian player to win an international title. 

• He is now the 20th Indian player to win on the Asian Tour.

• The fifth international and Asian Tour win for India this year following SSP Chawrasia’s Indian Open & Resorts World Manila Masters triumphs and Gaganjeet Bhullar’s Shinhan Donghae Open and Bank BRI-JCB Indonesia Open victories.

• Indians have now won five out of six editions of the Panasonic Open India. The previous Indian winners were Anirban Lahiri (2011), Digvijay Singh (2012), SSP Chawrasia (2014) and Chiragh Kumar (2015).

• The 75th international win for India.

• The 59th Asian Tour title for India.

• The 20th international win for India at the Delhi Golf Club.

• Indians have now won the last six international events staged on their home soil. The previous winners were – Rashid Khan (SAIL-SBI Open 2014), SSP Chawrasia (Panasonic Open India 2014), Anirban Lahiri (Indian Open 2015), Chiragh Kumar (Panasonic Open India 2015) and SSP Chawrasia (Indian Open 2016). Bangladesh’s Md Siddikur Rahman (2013 Indian Open champion) was the last foreigner to win an international event in India. 

• Mukesh now has full playing rights on the Asian Tour till the end of 2018.

• Mukesh now also has an invite to play next year’s Panasonic Open Golf Championship in Japan.
