Gaganjeet Bhullar in top-4 heading into final round of Shinhan Donghae Open
Chikkarangappa tied 11th after round three of Mercuries Taiwan Masters
India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar was tied for fourth after round three of the Asian Tour’s Shinhan Donghae Open in Incheon, Korea.
Bhullar followed up his first two rounds of 68 and 66 with a third straight sub-par round of three-under-68 that took his total to 11-under-202.
Gaganjeet, who climbed two places from overnight tied sixth as a result of his third round effort, trails the leader Thitiphun Chuayprakong of Thailand by five shots at the US$ 1 million event.
Bhullar is hopeful his power drives will surge him towards a grandstand finish as he goes in search of his sixth win on the Asian Tour this week.
“I always think driving is one important aspect of the game and apart from that, it’s all about putting. And it all depends on whether you can give yourself opportunities inside 10-feet.
“The goal was to give myself more birdie opportunities and that’s what I did. I’ll try to repeat what I’ve been doing all week,” said Bhullar.
Khalin Joshi with scores of 68, 69 and 69, was placed tied 12th at seven-under-206. He gained one spot in round three.
Jyoti Randhawa’s three consecutive scores of even-par-71 placed him tied 56th at even-par-213.
Elsewhere, at the Asian Tour’s Mercuries Taiwan Masters in Taipei, Chikkarangappa was the highest-placed Indian after round three. He occupied tied 11th place at one-over-217.
Chikka, who shot scores of 71, 74 and 72 on the first three days, was five strokes behind the leader, Panuphol Pittayarat of Thailand.
Himmat Rai and Chiragh Kumar were tied 19th at four-over-220 while Shubhankar Sharma was a further two shots back in tied 24th place.
