Lahiri tied fifth at WGC - Bridgestone Invitational

Anirban Lahiri shot a two-under-70 in round one of the WGC - Bridgestone Invitational to be placed tied fifth, four behind the leader American William McGirt.

Lahiri, who will be representing India at the Olympics next month, made five birdies against three bogeys in the first round.

Elsewhere, at the Asian Tour's Yeangder TPC in Taipei, the Indian trio of Himmat Rai, Shubhankar Sharma and Chiragh Kumar were tied 27th at two-under-70.

Chikkarangappa and Khalin Joshi were a further shot back in tied 42nd place, Gaganjeet Bhullar was tied 59th with a first round of 72 and Rahil Gangjee occupied tied 83rd with a score of 73.

At the European Tour's 100th Open de France, SSP Chawrasia was tied 120th at five-over-76 while Shiv Kapur was tied 130th at six-over-77.
