PGTI announces schedule for second half of 2016
• PGTI set to host a total of 20 events in 2016 with prize money of approximately Rs. 10 crore plus
• 14 events scheduled in second half including six new events
• Second half tees-off on August 3rd with inaugural TAKE Solutions Classic in Noida
The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) has announced its calendar for the second half of the 2016 season. As per the calendar, the PGTI is scheduled to host 14 tournaments between the months of August and December. The back half of the year will feature six new events.
The PGTI is now set to host a total of 20 events in 2016 with total prize money of approximately Rs. 10 crore plus.
The second half of the current season will tee-off on August 3rd with the inaugural TAKE Solutions Classic at the Noida Golf Course, a Rs. 50 lakh event.
Besides the TAKE Solutions Classic, the other notable additions to the calendar are, the Ahmedabad Open, Chennai Open, TAKE Solutions Open Golf Championship and an event in Bengaluru.
The TAKE Solutions Open Golf Championship, scheduled to be held at the Karnataka Golf Association (KGA) in Bengaluru from October 19 – 22, offers a prize purse of Rs. 1 crore, the highest among the new events.
Importantly, the Rs. 40 lakh Chennai Open, marks PGTI’s return to the city of Chennai after a long gap of seven years. The event will be held in the southern metropolis from October 11 – 14.
The Western India Oxford Masters returns for its second edition at the Oxford Golf Resort in Pune. The Rs. 30 lakh event will be played from November 29 – December 2.
The BILT Open (Rs. 1 crore), IndianOil Servo Masters (Rs. 30 lakh), CG Open (Rs. 1 crore), 15th TATA Open (Rs. 75 lakh) and McLeod Russel Tour Championship (Rs. 1.5 crore), are some of the established PGTI events that also feature in the schedule for the second half.
The season-ending McLeod Russel Tour Championship is scheduled to be held from December 22 – 25 at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC).
The US$ 400,000 Panasonic Open India (non Order of Merit event), an event co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and PGTI, is slated to be held in the first week of November.
