Anirban Lahiri shoots a sensational nine-under-61 to climb into tied second in round two of A Military Tribute; Sets a new Indian record on the PGA Tour

Indian star Anirban Lahiri fired a sparkling nine-under-par 61 to trail in tied second place at the halfway stage of the A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier on the PGA Tour on Friday.

Lahiri's 61 is the lowest ever score by an Indian on the PGA Tour. It improves on his own previous round of seven-under-63 which he achieved at the Travelers Championship in 2017.

The 2015 Asian Tour number one produced nine birdies for a 12-under-par 128 total to trail the leader Kelly Kraft by a single shot at The Old White TPC course.

Without a bogey on his card in 36 holes, Lahiri took advantage of his sharp shooting game where he found all 18 greens in regulation.

Anirban's putter was also on fire as he made eight birdie conversions from a distance of 10 to 25 feet. He is now in position to win his first PGA Tour title.

“I've been feeling good over the last two weeks. I've seen the improvement on the golf course and I've tried to plug the gaps that I've found over the last two weeks. And I'm happy that more than anything else I haven't dropped a shot. But I'm not thinking about that. The focus is just to put myself in the best position that I can, and that's a big positive for me,” said Lahiri.
