CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
- Akshay Sharma is one of the most promising golfing talents to have emerged from Chandigarh in recent years.
- In the 2022 season, Sharma registered five top-10s and three other top-20 finishes to claim 13th place in the TATA Steel PGTI Rankings. His best results in the year came at the Rajasthan Tourism presents Jaipur Open where he finished third and at the Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational presented by TAKE where he finished tied third.
- In the 2020-21 season, Akshay won the TATA Steel PGTI Players Championship 2020 Presented by Panchkula Golf Club. His tournament tally of 24-under-264 at Panchkula equaled the record for the lowest winning total on the PGTI. He also secured a third place finish at the TATA Steel PGTI Players Championship 2020 Presented by Chandigarh Golf Club and a tied fifth at the Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational Presented by TAKE along with three other top-20s. He thus finished 17th in the PGTI Order of Merit in 2020-21.
- Sharma posted two top-10s and two other top-20s on the PGTI in 2019 with his best finish being tied fifth at the Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational 2019 Presented by TAKE. He also finished joint runner-up at the 2019 PGTI Feeder Tour – Chhawla.
- Akshay won the 2018 QA InfoTech Open at Noida, finished tied third at the 2018 Kensville Open Presented by PGTI and delivered five other top-10s during the season to finish a career-high 14th on the 2018 PGTI Order of Merit.
- Sharma ended an impressive 21st on the 2017 PGTI Order of Merit after having bagged third place at the TAKE Open Golf Championship, one other top-10 and another top-20 during the season.
- With two top-10s and five other top-20s on the PGTI in 2016, Akshay finished 41st on the PGTI Order of Merit.
- In 2014, Sharma won the PGTI Feeder Tour – Jaipur, finished runner-up at the PGTI Feeder Tour – Karnal and secured two more top-10s on the tour. He thus finished second on the Feeder Tour Order of Merit.
- Akshay finished tied fourth at the 2013 PGTI Players Championship at Chandigarh Golf Club.
- He claimed two top-10s on the 2013 Feeder Tour to finish fourth on the season’s merit list.
- Sharma grabbed the second spot at the 2012 PGTI Feeder Tour – Jaipur. He also posted three other top-20s on the Feeder Tour in 2012.
- He finished runner-up at the 2011 PGTI Feeder Tour - Karnal.
