Shiv Kapur tied ninth in Japan
India's Shiv Kapur began his campaign at the Panasonic Open in Japan with an opening round of three-under-68 to be placed tied ninth, three adrift of the lead.
Kapur mixed four birdies with a bogey for his 68 at the US$ 1,270,000 event co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Japan Golf Tour.
Rahil Gangjee was the other Indian in the top-20. he shot a 69 to be tied 13th.
Jyoti Randhawa, who got back into action after a long injury layoff, fired a 72 to take a share of 46th place.
Gaganjeet Bhullar was a further stroke back in joint 63rd while Jeev Milkha Singh and Chiragh Kumar were tied 88th with scores of 74.
Himmat Rai returned a 75 to be tied 103rd.
At the European Tour's Shenzhen International in China, SSP Chawrasia posted an even-par-72 in round one to be tied 49th and six shots off the lead.
At the Asian Development Tour's ICTSI Sherwood Hills Classic, Khalin Joshi carded scores of 73 and 74 in the first two rounds to lie tied 22nd at three-over-147 at the halfway stage. He was seven shots behind the lead.
