Anirban Lahiri ends tied 42nd at The Masters, improves on last year's finish

India's Anirban Lahiri (76-73-75-75) fired a three-over-75 in the last round of the Masters Tournament at Augusta to end the week in tied 42nd place with a total of 11-over-299.

Lahiri thus improved on his last year's finish of tied 49th when he made his debut at the Masters.

England's Danny Willett won the tournament with a three-shot margin thanks to a blemish-free five-under-67 in round four. Willett totalled five-under-283 to record his first Major victory.

Lahiri, starting the day at five-over, courted disaster on the third hole following a triple bogey and had further bogeys on the fourth and seventh holes. But he played his last 11 holes superbly with two birdies and parred the rest to finish with a 75.

The reigning Asian Tour number one said: “The two triples (one each on the first and last day) and not being able to score off the par fives cost me something like 10 shots and that is the difference being in the top-10 or somewhere in the 40s. That should explain it all. I played well in patches and that was not enough.”
