Lahiri tied 32nd in Houston
Chikka tied 13th at ADT event
Anirban Lahiri opened his campaign at the PGA Tour's Shell Houston Open with a solid three-under-69 to be placed tied 32nd, five shots behind leader Charley Hoffman of the United States.
Lahiri, who'll be heading to Augusta National to make his second appearance at the Masters next week, sank five birdies against two bogeys on Thursday, largely thanks to a hot putter.
Anirban, the world no. 50, drained a 16 footer for birdie on the first, his opening hole of the tournament. He also knocked in two birdie putts from eight feet.
Lahiri's well placed approach shots helped him pick up two birdie tap-ins as well.
Elsewhere, at the Charming Yeangder ADT, an Asian Development Tour (ADT) event being played in Chinese Taipei, India's Chikkarangappa shot a first round four-under-68 to be tied 13th. He trailed the leader, Lin Wen-tang of Chinese Taipei by five strokes.
Shubhankar Sharma fired a 70 to be placed tied 30th.
