Honey Baisoya & Chikkarangappa in tied 10th on opening day of Asian Tour Qualifying School Final Stage

Honey Baisoya and Chikkarangappa S were the highest placed Indians in tied 10th after round one of the Asian Tour Qualifying School Final Stage 2016. Baisoya and Chikka shot scores of four-under-67 to trail the leader Yikeun Chang of Korea by four strokes. 

While Baisoya made six birdies and two bogeys in his first round, Chikka, a full card holder on the Asian Tour last year, produced an eagle, four birdies and two bogeys.

A total of 245 players are appearing at the Final Stage where the first two rounds will be played at Springfield Royal Country Club and Imperial Lakeview Golf Club while Springfield Royal will host the final two days. Players who finish inside the top-40 and ties will secure playing rights on the region’s premier Tour in 2016.

Shubhankar Sharma was tied 18th at three-under-68 while Ashok Kumar, Amardip Sinh Malik, Khalin Joshi, Aman Raj, Manu Gandas and Samarth Dwivedi fired scores of 70 to be tied 53rd.

Gaurav Pratap Singh, Digvijay Singh and Rahul Bajaj shared 80th place at even-par-71.

Among the other Indians, Feroz Ali Mollah (73) was tied 137th, Udayan Mane (74) and Vikrant Chopra (74) were both in tied 162nd, Shankar Das (76) was placed tied 197th, Feroz Singh Garewal (77) was tied 214th and Naman Dawar (79) was tied 229th.
