Anirban Lahiri finishes tied 16th at Small Business Connection Championship, well-placed for PGA Tour card

India’s Anirban Lahiri (72-70-67-71) was tied for 16th at the Web.com Tour’s Small Business Connection Championship with an eight-under-280 total for the week. He finished seven shots behind the winner Chez Reavie of the United States.

The 28-year-old Lahiri figured $50,000 would secure his place inside the top 25 on the Finals money list -- enough to the point where he could depart the Finals, prepare for The Presidents Cup and not have to worry about losing his spot.

The 28-year old was officially named to The Presidents Cup International Team last week and entered this week as the highest-ranked player in the Official World Golf Rankings (No. 40).

Lahiri’s tied 16th at River Run this week helped him add $15,000 to the money he won at last week’s Hotel Fitness Championship where he finished tied sixth. His Finals earnings now stand at $49,750, which should be plenty to earn one of the PGA TOUR cards that will be handed out in two weeks.

“I think that if I’m close to $50,000, that should be plenty,” said Lahiri on Sunday afternoon. “That’s what everyone’s saying. That’s a chance I have to take, but I think I’m going to take that chance.

“I might decide late tonight whether I play next week or not, but as things stand, I might not tee it up next week.”

At the European Tour’s 72° OPEN D’ITALIA presented by DAMIANI, Indians Jeev Milkha Singh and Shiv Kapur came in tied 33rd at 12-under-276 while S.S.P Chawrasia, the third Indian in the field, settled for tied 44th at 10-under-278.

At the Asian Development Tour’s PGM Bukit Jawi Championship, India’s Feroz Singh Garewal claimed tied 27th place at one-under-287.
