TATA GROUP & PGTI ANNOUNCE THE 13TH TATA OPEN GOLF

Prize money of Rs. 75 lakhs

Top names in the field include Chikkarangappa, Mukesh Kumar, Shamim Khan, Om Prakash Chouhan

Jamshedpur, December 16, 2014: The TATA Group and PGTI have announced the 13th TATA Open Golf which will be held in Jamshedpur from 18th – 21st December, 2014. The four-day tournament will be hosted at the Beldih and Golmuri Golf Courses in Jamshedpur. The Pro-Am will be played on 17th December, 2014. The prize money for the event has been raised to   75 lakhs.

The tournament will feature some of the top Indian professionals such as Chikkarangappa S (current Rolex Rankings leader), Mukesh Kumar, Shamim Khan, Om Prakash Chouhan, defending champion M Dharma, Shankar Das, Amardip Sinh Malik, Digvijay Singh and Sanjay Kumar, to name a few. The top foreign players in the field are Sri Lankans Anura Rohana, K Prabagaran and N Thangaraja, Kunal Bhasin of Australia, Nepal’s Shivaram Shrestha and Bangladesh’s Md Zamal Hossain Mollah. 

The local challenge will be led by Jamshedpur’s Karan Taunk, who currently leads the PGTI Emerging Player of the Year race for 2014. Taunk was the runner-up at last year’s TATA Open.

The two venues for the tournament, the Beldih and Golmuri golf courses, are both lush green, beautiful and very well-maintained, with the charming Dalma Hills in the background. While the 70-year-old Beldih golf course flaunts long fairways, Golmuri is a smaller, greener boutique course disallowing golfers any room for error.
