Himmat Rai best-placed Indian in round 1 of Resorts World Manila Masters

Himmat Rai carded a four-under-68 in round one of the Asian Tour's Resorts World Manila Masters to be the highest-placed Indian in tied 10th position. He was three behind the co-leaders Mardan Mamat of Singapore and Japanese Daisuke Kataoka.

Himmat, a winner on the Asian Tour, submitted a card with five birdies and a bogey in the first round to end the day in a strong position.

Shiv Kapur and Rashid Khan were the other two Indians in the top-20. Shiv and Rashid, a winner on the Asian Tour last week, returned scores of 69, to be tied 15th.

Jyoti Randhawa, the runner-up last week, Arjun Atwal and Chiragh Kumar, came up with matching scores of 72, to occupy tied 45th position.

Rahil Gangjee (73) and Jeev Milkha Singh (76) were further down the leaderboard in tied 59th and tied 103rd places respectively.
