Anirban Lahiri stays on course for top-25 finish and maiden European Tour card despite slipping on day five
Anirban Lahiri stayed on course for a top-25 finish and his maiden European Tour card despite slipping from joint second to tied 11th in round five of the European Tour Q-School Final Stage in Girona, Spain.
Lahiri (65-68-66-73-75) carded a three-over-75 in round five to take his total to nine-under-347. Anirban, the sole Indian to make the cut after four rounds, trails the leader Renato Paratore of Italy by eight strokes.
With just one round remaining, Lahiri is looking good for a top-25 finish that'll ensure him his first ever European Tour card. If Lahiri does go on to earn his card, he will be the second Indian after Shiv Kapur to play on the European Tour as a full card member in 2015.
Shiv was the only Indian to retain his card for 2015 as he finished 87th in the Race to Dubai this year. The top-110 in the Race to Dubai get an exepmtion for the following season on the European Tour.
