Lahiri claims third place courtesy a 68 in the final round of the Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters

Chowrasia finishes tied fourth

India’s Anirban Lahiri (64-68-76-68) claimed third place at the Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters after a final round of 68 that saw him end up with a tournament total of eight-under-276. He finished two shots behind the playoff duo, Thailand’s Chapchai Nirat and Filipino Antonio Lascuna.

Nirat won the title as he defeated Lascuna on the first playoff hole after converting a four-foot par putt.

Lahiri battled gamely but failed to find the extra birdie towards the end to join the play-off. “I really tried hard out there. But I didn’t putt very well and you can’t win tournaments if you don’t putt well. I’m really disappointed although I’ll finish third. Disappointed really with yesterday (when he shot a 76 after falling ill) and with how it turned out which is a big letdown,” he said

He added, “When I birdied 17 to get to nine-under, I thought I could birdie 18 that would give me a good chance. But I missed the fairway on 18 and that’s a shot gone right there.”

SSP Chowrasia (66-70-73-69) secured tied fourth place to be the second Indian in the top-5. His final round of 69 took his total to six-under-278.

Rashid Khan and Jyoti Randhawa finished tied 24th at one-over-285.

Chiragh Kumar was tied 42nd at four-over-288 while Arjun Atwal ended tied 70th at 16-over-300.
