Lahiri's one-over-72 places him tied 79th in round one at Valhalla

India’s Anirban Lahiri, making his PGA Championship debut, fired a one-over-72 in the opening round of the year’s fourth and final Major to be placed tied 79th. Former world number one Lee Westwood of England shared the lead with Americans Kevin Chappell and Ryan Palmer after opening with scores of six-under-65.

Lahiri, a four-time Asian Tour winner, turned in 34 after marking his card with a birdie on the par-five seventh. However, he was pegged back after a costly double-bogey on 16th.
