Bhullar off to a solid start in Russia with a five-under-67

India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar opened with solid five-under-67 to sit in tied fourth position at the M2M Russian Open on Thursday.

Bhullar, a five-time Asian Tour winner and a member of Team Asia in the EurAsia Cup, traded six birdies against one bogey to trail Englishman David Horsey by two shots at the Tseleevo Golf and Polo Club.

The talented Indian was delighted with his consistent play after hitting 15 greens in regulation. His round was only marred by a bogey-six on the eighth hole.

“I hit the ball really well. I hit 15 greens in regulation and gave myself a lot of opportunities. I hit the ball close, so I didn’t have to do much scrambling and the birdies were all from about ten to 12 feet,” said Bhullar.

SSP Chowrasia lies tied 82nd after his opening round of four-over-76.
