Jeev Milkha Singh enjoys a strong start at the Irish Open
Jeev Milkha Singh of India birdied the last hole to get off to a strong start at the Irish Open after shooting a three-under-68 on Thursday.
The two-time Asian Tour Order of Merit winner turned in 36 before breathing life to his campaign with four birdies against one bogey on his way home to trail the leader Mikko Ilonen of Finland by four shots. Jeev is currently in tied ninth.
Singh, whose last victory in Europe was at the 2012 Scottish Open, will have a chance to secure a spot at the 2014 British Open next month as the top three players this week earn a spot in the year’s third Major.
Gaganjeet Bhullar and Shiv Kapur, the other two Indians in the field, shot scores of three-over-74 to be tied 125th.
