Shiv Kapur fires three-over-73 to be tied 68th after round 1 of US Open
Shiv Kapur fired a three-over-73 in the opening round of the US Open to be placed tied 68th. He trails the leader Martin Kaymer of Germany by eight shots.
Kapur, making his debut at the US Open, had a promising start as he birdied the 13th to move to one-under. However, bogeys on the 18th, first, fourth and ninth meant he closed the day with a 73 at the Pinehurst Resort & Country Club.
With the top-60 and ties making the cut after round two, Shiv remains in contention for the cut. He will tee off in round two at 2:20 pm local time on Friday.
